When a Criminal Defense Attorney is Needed

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9I1JJrOfSU

Every citizen of the United States is guaranteed a fair trial and proper defense. Not only that, but a speedy trial is assured as well as the accused having the right of a speedy trial being held before a jury of their peers. These rights are absolute, pursuant to the sixth Amendment of the United States Constitution and has stood the test of time for almost 240 years.

If you’ve arrived at this page of my Website most likely you live in the tri-county area of Dade, Broward or Palm Beach County, and a relative, maybe a son or daughter, or even a close friend has been arrested and charged with a crime.

Through my history as an experienced criminal defense attorney, I have a very good idea of what you’re going through right now, and the thoughts that are racing through your mind.

It’s normal human nature to always assume the worst, but hiring a lawyer who’s an expert in the field of criminal defense, such as myself, can primarily ease your mind and give you hope where little seems to exist.

My name is Michael B. Cohen and I’m a board certified criminal trial lawyer that worked for the prosecution for close to half of my professional career. As an Assistant United States Attorney as well as an Assistant State Attorney and an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Florida, I have gained essential knowledge and expertise, learning how the prosecution functions in any criminal matter in cases tried in the State of Florida. This prior involvement both in state and federal cases offers me a substantial advantage over many other attorneys in my field by understanding and knowing how the prosecution thinks and how they will proceed to prosecute a case in any criminal matter.

This experience and more than thirty-five years of its application in the courtroom has helped me effectively represent my clients’ when an arrest takes place, when allegations are charged, or a case moves forward to trial. And even in the result of an unfavorable outcome, throughout the appeals process where a verdict can be scrutinized by a higher court.

If an arrest has happened recently, it’s possible that the person you care about is still in the custody of law enforcement. In that situation, my immediate objective would be to gain their release on bond. After that my next move is to reach out to the prosecution to examine the evidence they believe they have. I also speak directly to the arresting officers and agents to find out the exact circumstances of the arrest, seeking ways that I can impeach their testimony later, in the event that a case goes to trial. In cases where the evidence appears to be in the favor of the prosecution there are still methods available to me which I can use to get the charges reduced to obtain the most favorable outcome for you or your loved one.

I am a firm believer in the presumption of innocence as required under the law, and the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. The possibility of a person suspected of a crime being found not guilty can be greatly determined by a well-planned defense in opposition to the admission of any conflicting evidence.

I can assure you, there are always ways to lessen the penalties after a possible conviction or even get a case thrown out completely before it ever goes to trial. Or maybe the person arrested is not-guilty at all and the prosecution really doesn’t have the evidence to prove their case or even proceed.

I put the government or state to the test.
